Lamb_Calligramme

Artist statement: I was asked to make a letter to my future self and create a calligramme out of it. A calligramme is words formed in a way to make a shape, usually relating to the writing. The main focus of my writing was my future plans to start a business. So for my calligramme, I decided to make my words into a tall building to symbolize the future growth of not just my business but my entire life. one of the most readable and biggest texts is me stating"I want to learn what it takes to start said business and learn." By including this I wanted to make it clear that I do not want to be handed anything and want to grow my business my own way and shape. The tools I used to make this were the text tool in Illustrator, the rectangle tool, and the pen tool to make alignments. Although it may look a little bland from the outside, the inside tells a story of my hopes and dreams.

letter to me

Dear future self, I hope this letter finds you in a state of peace, surrounded by the comfort of your accomplishments, the love of your family, and the realization of your dreams. As I write to you now, I Have a mix of joy and curiosity about the journey you have taken over the last two decades. I hope by now we are settled down and enjoying the little things in life, like family, friends, and maybe children. Looking at my life 20 years in the future I have goals for myself, I want to start my own company and work for myself. I want to learn what it takes to start said business and learn everything about the industry. I hope to find joy in life as time passes and that I have truly found the person I want to be. I know there will be good times and bad, but I also know I will see the other end and that life will only put out what I put into it. Right after college, I would like to stay in Florida and find something I love to do every day. After settling into my profession and having a stable life path, I think I will travel the world and see people's perspectives in different countries. I not only want to travel to learn but also to enjoy myself and be proud of who I am at that time. After I travel I hope to find someone I value very much and can spend the rest of my life with. The things I truly hope and pray for, though, are the health of those whom I love, as, at the end of the day, that is what is most important. As you read this letter, I encourage you to reflect on your journey. Celebrate the successes, learn from the mistakes, and carry on the dreams that are still alive.
