Ps HW 2
The image I chose from “The People’s Portfolio” is a child who tried to immigrate to the United States and was separated from his family. This photo brought me close to my emotions because my brother recently had a baby boy and I couldn't imagine what it would be like for my nephew to be ripped from his parent's hand. My nephew is only two and cannot speak for himself so if he was separated from his parents his life would completely change forever. These children must be extremely confused as they were told they were being brought into America for a better life and when they get to the border they are taken by people they do not know into a place they are unfamiliar with. You can see by how long the child's hair is and how emotionless his face is that he has little hope.
The picture I chose to express a connection to the world was a picture of me and my uncle at the University of Tampa sign behind the Southern family building. the reason I chose this picture was not only to show a connection to the world around me but also to a connection to people. In the picture, you can see blossomed flowers and the sun beating down on me and my uncle. These things represent growth, Which college also represents. In college, it is your first time on your own for most people and that can be a big adjustment, but if you do the right things you can blossom just like the flowers behind me in the picture.
A connection to humans in the picture I chose was the connection between me and my uncle. My family is very small, but we are always there for each other. My aunt and uncle live in Chicago but would not miss me moving into college for the world. just as my parents did to my cousins. I believe that the fact that we are such a small family makes the time we spend together much more valuable. When we get together everyone gets to speak with everyone and we are all very apparent in each others lives.
